FNSI - Autumn awakening

Life has a habit of throwing curve balls at you sometimes, and if you don't catch them, and are too slow to duck it can make things interesting.

Tonight I'm taking time out to do something that gives me pleasure and sharing it with my online friends tomorrow.

FNSI Results

Better late than never. 
Today was a dull, dark rainy day and photography light was not good but I did manage a few shots this evening when it brightened up a bit.
I'm still in bag mode so I decided to make a friend an unlined squared off shopping bag. I've re-arranged this pattern so many ways so not everyone has the same style of bag. Again, it's recycled/repurposed 100% cotton sheets courtesy of one of the local op-shops.

This was an all over print.

Squaring off was a bit tricky

 Of course the 'supervisor' had to inspect the finished product. Now I'll have to wash it as my friend is allergic to cats and I guarantee Miss Maddy has planted a hair on it somewhere!

On My Mind...FNSI

Lol, I realised as I put this pie in the oven this morning that I've done it again......put my name down for FNSI (Friday Night Sew In) and forgot to post about it on my blog!! So there's no posts here about sewing until tomorrow but the chicken and vegetable pie is for tea tonight so I can have more time sewing instead of cooking and washing dishes :D.

FNSI - a start on the gifts

I've been meaning to try this out for a while and I discovered it's quite easy to make hanging hand towels :).
There's one for me - the one at the back so you can't see the boo boos- and two for gifts. I'll be on the lookout for towels on sale that have designs on them now as there will be ric rac and other little decorations on future ones.

One of these will be going to a male which is why they are more functional than fashionable.

FNSI

Here's what I did last night. Any comments welcome as this is my first quilt and true to form I'm 'freelancing' instead of doing it from a pattern!! Lol, I can't help myself. This was originally a fabric book but I just liked the theme for my grandson as he helps his Pop and his Dad a lot.
Caught myself out last night as I thought I had more strips cut for the sashing/borders but when I went on a search for it I discovered that I had used that red for something else and hadn't replaced it yet! Looks like I'll be at the fabric shop on Monday.
I had to trim the blocks again as the pattern isn't quite even but at least I've made a start *smile*. The finished quilt should be about 36" x 46". Is that big enough for a 3 year old boy to wrap himself in or should I add a second border and make it 40 x 50?
